Pivot Point School Evanston, IL

Pivot Point School Evanston, IL

The Bliss Book believes in the creative mind & inspiration.  I have created a class called The anatomy of an up do.  Teaching the core principles of how to build a structurally sound up do and how to get to the point of execution using your references and communication.  We created The Bliss Book as a reference tool and a guide for women and stylists to create their perfect look.

We also believe on finding everyone’s individual beauty and accentuating it.  We are all beautiful in our own individual way and we hope that everyone will find their Bliss.

This was my trip to Pivot Point School in Evanston, IL a suburb of Chicago. The students were awesome and eager to learn. They helped me take pictures to document the process so they would have pictures to use as reference. I want to thank them so much for participating and I wish them the best of luck in their up do imagination & creation.

Veiled, unveiled or adorned…

It’s what you dream of, it’s what you envision and it’s who you are.  You may be simple, or complicated, not care at all or you may be very precise about what you desire.  What you place in your hair may also depend on the shape of the hair, the detail, the height.  It can all depend on your dress and it’s details, shape and cut.  OH, all these decisions.  But most of all it’s who you are and what you desire.

Jolie chose simple and classic.  It’s soft like her dress and the simpleness of her hair expresses who she is.   She is a classic beauty.  Less is more.

Sara is structured and again classic.  It’s contained under her beautiful veil that she chose to wear during her ceremony that floated in the wind outside.  It went beautifully with her low back dress.  Her hair was low and had beautiful crystal hair pins placed to the side for later when she removed her veil.  The placement of a low veil is so beautiful.

Peggy is a classic goddess.  She has ordained herself with a tiara and who would not want to be a princess for a day.  Simple but a bold statement of crowning glory and they come in all sizes.  This perfectly matches her beautiful down style.  This is a replicated style of her wedding day for The Bliss Book.

Lindsey is beachy and fun.  She has ordained herself with a beautiful orchid straight from a Key West garden.  Keeping in mind a flower that will with stand the heat and tighter curls that will hold in the humidity.  Sometimes as a bride you have to think of reality in the heat, she could have never done a veil she was wise to flower it up with natural beauty instead.

Jenny chose high and classic.  She has doubled up the fun with ordained and veiled.  She was the bride that had envisioned her look from the very beginning from hair, tiara, veil placement.  She had plenty of height in her hair to push her veil up in the back.  Her look was complete and matched her dreams.

What is your veiled, adorned or unadorned dream?

Steps to creating a perfect blow dry.

blowdryer1

We talked about preparing your hair for an up do and one of the steps was to get a good blow dry the day before in preparation.  I had posted this on my other blog for my clients and thought this could be helpful as the day before preparation of your up do.  This also can be helpful on a daily basis.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Always use products:

*They protect the hair from heat and further damage.

*You always need hold (even if you’re a minimalist) to keep your flyways under control and to give volume so it’s not stuck to your head.

*There is a product for everyone to create what it is you want.   Even if you don’t want anything in your hair…products make the hair look better.

*A good blow dry needs moisture, hold, silicone or oil.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Your Blow dryer:

*I say go to the beauty supply (like sallys) and get your dryer there.  You will get the bigger bang for your buck.

*You need 1500-2000 watt dryer.

*YOU MUST have a nozzle on the end this is called a director.  You notice when you don’t use it the hair is blowing in every direction.

*Get a dryer that is comfortable in your hand and light.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Your Brush:

*Get a brush that creates the look you want,  the right size.

*FYI the giant brushes are usually ridiculous and do nothing.

*Find a brush that is light and works well.  My favorite brush is the Prego~we do have these at Tricho.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

The process:

*Take your time.

*Section your hair if it helps/Use clips.

*Get some of the water out,  but no more than 30%.

*Always start with the bang so you can take control of any growth patterns.

*Blow dry your top section straight up and down not on the part to give volume.

*Pull tight, high heat, coming over the top of your hair strand (that’s why your want the director) so you are smoothing down the cuticle.  This takes practice :-)

*Start with the sides and top….My thought on this is if you get tired you can half ass the back and the top can cover it :-)

*IMPORTANT-if you leave any water in your hair or any moisture it will end up fuzzy for the rest of the day.

Remember a good blow dry can last you a couple of days.

What are your blow dry questions or issues?

Imagine Three hard at work & inspired by Bliss.

We had a fun and busy weekend at the bridal show at The Hilton Garden Inn Perrysburg, Ohio.  This was our first time at this show and we were able to do some of the hair and make-up.  I must say I had a great time and it’s always fun to create and then watch it walk the runway.

This is a great show for brides that are looking for vendors and want a not so overwhelming meet and greet.  This was a bridal show that was on a smaller scale.  Maybe 200-250 attended which allowed everyone to browse and talk with the vendors.  If you are in the area there will be another show with U and I bridal show December 27th.  If you are not in the area brides,  look for a smaller shows that will cater to your needs.

This was faulous, I loved it!

This was fabulous!

I loved this flower, I almost used two.
