~Inspiration~

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009
I had a class a month back in New York and I am always inspired by the windows I often walk by.  My favorite window I always visit is Prada.  What a great display they had, mannequins dressed in fall fashion with runway inspired hair.  The second window was an interior design window with a display of glitter pumpkins mixed with orchids, chicks and hens.  What a great idea for a fall wedding.  Then I fell in love with the butterfly cake because it was just so fun and sparkly.  The windows have much to do with nothing but can inspire one to create.  I have ideas beginning to stir and I can’t wait to show.  Be inspired!

Inspiration is everywhere; it’s the curve of a face, a fold of a fabric, the flush of a cheekbone, a color.

BRIDAL BOUTIQUE LUNCHEON – a wedding workshop

BRIDAL BOUTIQUE – wedding workshop for expert advice from area wedding professionals. Brides will hear advice on photography, makeup and hair, wedding attire, wedding etiquette, invitations, videography, wedding cakes, reception entertainment, wedding decor, honeymoon planning and much more.

owner of e-vents: a wedding and event planning company.

Erica Gregory owner of E-vents: a wedding and event planning company.

I was given the opportunity to speak at the wedding workshop by Erica Gregory owner of E-vents.  What a privilege and great idea to give local brides the opportunity to hear directly from the experts.  If you are ever given the chance to attend a Bridal Luncheon,  do so.  You will find yourself hearing directly from Vendors you may want to hire or just hear their expert advice.

For my talk I covered how to prepare the hair prior to your wedding day.  This plays a major role in your hair holding, the control of fuzziness & it will be the canvas on which your stylist will perform their work.

I prepared three models with separate looks and gave choices of veil placement, flower choice and pins.  I am a firm believer that we all need visual aids & ideas,  to help in leading us to the final look.

A local photographer in Indianapolis was on hand,  Sarah E. Carter you can also see more about the event at her blog post:
If you will notice Bea's hairstyle if very similar to The Bliss Book cover, it's just modified to fit her.

If you will notice Bea's hairstyle if very similar to The Bliss Book cover, it's just modified to fit her. The large flower is perfect for her daintiness.

Because Bea's features are so small I wanted to give her heights and bring it away from her her beautiful face slightly.

This is one of my favorite choices. A bride at one time had me place at least ten Stephanotis flowers in her soft, loose up do. It was a perfect option to not wearing a veil.

Originally I had crytal pins but I decided to give a fun summer option with gerber dasies. This look is very structured and you can do many things with it. Veil, pins, flowers.......

We loved the responses for The Bliss Book contest on www.shejustgotmarried.com and wanted to share them with you, especially the winner of The Bliss Book.  Congratulations Kendra and we wish you happy & beautiful hair on your wedding day!

Kendra’s name was chosen from a random drawing of all entries. Her comment said:

“I am marrying a wonderful man on July 3rd, 2010. We have about 20 people in our wedding party, so I would love to have help with picking the hairstyles for so many different women, as well as myself. I am not the really girlie type so when it comes to things such as hair I have no clue which direction to go in. I would love to have a little help with making me the star of the day. Thanks”

Tawana:

I met the love of my life 6 years ago, he ministered and encouraged my cousin who had just lost her new born little girl named Angel. As a result of his geuniness she said, you know, you will be great for my cousin. We were introduced in August of 2002 and began chatting that Christmas Eve and became a couple the New Year of 2003. Our relationship tragically ended July of the same year, but it was not over for him and me either. He called me last year October 15, 2008 and re-connected with me. It was obvious our love never ended it was just foolishness that tore us apart. We now want to be together forever and we have decided to do that on December 19, of this year. We both have been married before, but i NEVER had a wedding, bridal shower nothing, and this time I am having it all and I would like your book to help me with it!

Angie:

Our wedding is going to be at sunrise on the beach on July 18 2010. I have short hair and I have no idea what I want to do with it. I would love to have this book!!!

Lacey:

lmdavidson:

My wedding date is October 2, 2010 and I am focusing on sustainable ideas and a theme that I call “Mad Hatter meets Shabby Chic” in the colors blood red and light blue. I would LOVE some inspiration. The Architect in me goes nuts for creativity!

Unknown:

The Bliss book would really, really help my fiance and I develop the inspiration for our wedding, scheduled March 1, 2011. We are scouring through wedding blogs and magazines searching for ideas! This is the biggest day of both our lives and we are drawing a blank when it comes to the theme, style, and feel! HELP!
Amanda:

I am marrying the most wonderful man in the world, Joe.  Our wedding will be a traditional church wedding to be held on June 5, 2010.  We will have between 250-300 guests and of course it’s m wedding day so I want it to be a cinderella story that no one will ever forget.  Any help I can get is graciously appreciated

- Amanda Gravitt

Sandy:
Okay, I’ll bite. My husband’s family runs a dance studio (the oldest family-run studio in the country) and we will be celebrating its 100th anniversary over Memorial Day weekend, 2010. The main event will be an elegant dinner with performances by past and present students of the school and, of course, dancing by the attendees. I’ll have a 6-month-old baby who will be the youngest of the next generation to take over the school, so no doubt I will be getting lots of attention and would like to look my best! (See also my pledge in my previous blog entry!!!)

-Sandy Philpott

Xtreme Lashes applied by Kathleen Champagne @ Tricho Salon and Spa Ann Arbor, MI

Lash extensions are the new rage and can be a life saver for those with little or no lashes.  For those of you who want great lashes on a daily basis or for your event and want them to look natural and be an extension of what you already have this is perfect.  Most of the time you will not need to wear mascara when you get the lashes.  I am not an expert but I have seen many brides, friends and clients with the extensions and they love them.  They are more expensive way to go then the strip or individual lash application but it is all preference and what you want to achieve in your finished look and they are fabulous.

Check out www.xtremelashes.com and the website will direct you toward a beauty professional who is trained to apply the lashes & eyelash extension salons.  They will also show pictures of before and afters.

Birdcage…Handmade…Birdcage

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

I was recently at a bridal show and had recommended a bride,  who was looking for a birdcage veil,  to search on Etsy.com. Etsy is the place to buy and sell all things handmade.  I have found a lot of beautiful things on Etsy and some very talented individuals.  I am all about supporting those who use their talents to make beautiful things.  So here are some suggestions for hair adornments from Velvet Owl I love what she does and they are beautifully done.  Click on any one of the picture and it will take you directly to the item.
