~Italian Vogue~

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

I was so excited to share this beautiful bride.  Alexa was married first in Italy to her groom Ryan. After their wedding in Italy, they came back to the states and held a reception in both Detroit, where Ryan is from, and San Diego, where Alexa is from.

I was able to sneak a peak at her pictures from her first wedding and OOOOOHHHHHH it was breathtaking and she was beautiful like an Italian Vogue model.  But this was a different location and a different look was requested.  Her first look was loose but a large like bun, to the side, that was so perfectly sculpted in the back (like a painting)…it all matched her surroundings.  She had given me several options for her look but it was to be more loose and to the side.  I loved her results,  she is beautiful and this complimented her and the dress.  Again she can be on the cover of a magazine.

This is a perfect look if you want to wear your hair down but contained.  It can still easily be adorned with a veil, birdcage, flowers, pins or just by itself like Alexa has chosen.  This is also great hair for formal event or New Years party!

fas·ci·nat·ing    (fās’ə-nā’tĭng)

adj.  Possessing the power to charm or allure; captivating.

I am so in love…I found One Little Dove and her wonderful handmades on Pip Pip and All That .  To my amazement found that she had been featured in The Brides Guide from the Editors of Martha Stewart.  To die, die, die to be featured in anything Martha Stewart and she should be featured because they are beautiful.  If anyone knows me and my love for my dear Martha, oh to be Martha…ok enough.   While in love with the fascinators created by One Little Dove she hit the spot with her bridal flower fascinator.  I have been looking for something this perfect and this scale to match a particular style I had created.  She has embellished this flower perfectly and it’s just the right size, because the large flowers are so pretty to adorn with.

Be in love with One Little Dove and her sweet, pretty adorned creations.

My love for this wedding and my bride who gave me simple instructions for her is what made this so beautiful.  Sometimes that can be the hardest to accomplish.  She brought me pictures of Jenna Bush and her laid back, simply beautiful hair.  Again, I did not know my bride before our first consult.  Her picture was her instructions and part of her verbalization of what she wanted.  This was our path to the road of getting to know her, leading us to her perfect look.  Enjoy!

~Handmade Elegance~

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

I found another talented artist on Emmaline Bride, where you can find all things handmade for your wedding.  Nyjole also is featured on Etsy where I found the rest of the wonderful collection beyond handmades to showcase your hair.

Nyjole is from Queensland, Australia.  ”I love creating beautiful jewelry for the modern woman. My designs are original, and have a mixture of classic vintage, glitz, and old fashion glamour and sophistication.”

The Elegance headpiece was my favorite and that is what caught my attention.   It could be worn in the center or to the side, there are so many options for position in your hair.   It could also be the main feature to your hair.  Or go out all our with elaborate hair and beautiful head piece.  Oh the possibilities, I hope you enjoy and visit Nyjole’s Etsy to see more creations and check out the options we paired with looks from Bliss.

I wanted to share with you one of my brides who found inspiration with Bliss.  I met Lauren when I did her best friends wedding this past summer in Key West, she swore up and down that her hair would not stay.  But even in the Key West humidity we got it to stay and our beautiful relationship began.

A lot goes in to preparing yourself for your event and it all begins with the right stylist.  Communication about what you want and don’t want.   Finding the right communication tools to be able to visualize these looks.  The job as a stylist starts by digging deep and knowing who that person is on a daily basis, the look of their dress, what their hair is like and what the bride is visualizing in her mind.

Lauren had given me pictures of her dress and she had gone through The Bliss Book and had chosen several looks.  She liked the idea of all of them.  We needed to pick what would look the best on her, what would allow a veil and look the best with her dress.  By using these examples and why she liked them, because they were up controlled and they still had texture, we could together reach her look with ease.  You can see her choices below.

The ending was perfect…She was an elegant beautiful bride.  Her hair complimented her, who she is, her dress and completed her look.  Congratulations Lauren & Dave!

Where do you find your inspired beauty?

Finding inspiration~On the pages we go

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Imagine Three, creators of The Bliss Book had a great opportunity to do a photo shoot for Travelhost of Flint and the Thumb Magazine.  The shoot is supporting a bridal issue,  so we did what we do best.

I have a sneak peek, of the non-professional shots, and where I found my inspiration for her hair.

When I am working on finding a look I always try to find something or someone that might inspire me.  This time I found it in Katy Perry.  I never copy the exact look, I use it as base starter or boiling thought to a great finish.  With this look I wanted to originally have a full strong bang, but my model did not have bangs and I was not going to cut her hair. So we compromised and did somewhat of a fake bang.

Note on bangs right now: These strong large sections are big and hot…be brave, do it!

I wanted to embellish the hair with large flowers and honestly it’s really hard to find fresh flowers that I felt were perfect and would fit the look. There were several other options but this was I felt stunning and clean. She was ivory and white.

I wanted her “bun” to be not so perfect but swept, large and dramatic. I guess strong would be the word, like her flowers.  Model Megan then turned from rocker Katy Perry to icon beauty Audrey Hepburn.  Can you visually see it though, how the strong bang can work with this look.
