~Something Special~

If you haven’t noticed yet, headbands are all the rage right now.  So why not have one of a kind and made by hand just for you. They are easy to wear and for the most simple style you can make it look sassy in one-second flat. When my pony is not cutting it I throw headband in and off I go.  You can find Be Something New on Etsy and you have to check out their large assortment of headbands not just for “bridal” as I have featured here.

Check out the Bliss looks below, we have chosen to go with the bands. Whatever you do, have fun with your look.

Be Something New:

I have been designing and manufacturing Bridal veils and headpieces for over 25 years. Be Something New is a new line I have started with my daughter. We have something for every occasion, your wedding, your prom, or just for everyday. Some of our pieces are one of a kind, made from vintage supplies, and some are made to order. I hope you enjoy our line

Feather Flower Fascinator

Oooohhhhh LaLa, who wouldn’t want a feather flower!  These lovelies are created by TessaKim and you can find her on Etsy.

These are perfect adornments for a fun night out, bridesmaid, prom and even a bride who wants a fun pop of color.  Check out TessaKim’s shop, she has them featured in real life and they are much lovelier in the hair.  They also come in off white and black.

How many feather flowers would you wear 1,2 or 3?

~Exquisite Beauty~

get_convo_imagephpOh,  to be adorned with veils…so romantic.  I found Veiled Beauty on my favorite place Etsy.  So, how much better can it get for your veil to be handmade with love and be at a great price.  Kathy even will make you a custom veil.  I love her mission:  To please every bride with a tear inducing, breath taking, mother-in-law gasping VEIL!

From the age of 6 I have been windng bobbins and designing in my dreams.  I stumbled upon my first veil creation when I was working for a wedding dress shop in Santa Barbara California.  I made some mock veils forthe mannequins as displays when…low and behold my veils kept selling.

Check out our paired looks below,  from The Bliss Book.  Veiling is the best way to add to you look and feel extra beautiful on your day.

Desert Island Brushes

The perfect accessory to any makeup bag are brushes. I went all through high school using sponges and my hands not realizing what I was missing. I wish someone had told me earlier how much of my foundation I had been wasting, or how many breakouts I may have prevented by throwing away those bacteria ridden, porous thieves. Also, if you are more eco-friendly, professional brushes are an investment that last 6-10 years. Think of all the waste you could be saving.

If I were stuck on a desert island…and somehow (very unlikely) I managed to have brought my essential beauty items, I could “survive” with only three brushes. If you saw my brush belt, I have multiples of my top faves. My most recent favorite is the Sephora Brand Professional Platinum Airbrush #55. I primarily use this for liquid foundation. You may be wondering why fluffy instead of flat is a better option, and I can tell you I wasn’t a believer until I tried it. OMG, flawless! It blends so easily, creating that airbrushed foundation look that is so close to natural. Another perk is this brush is also great for powder, bronzer and blush. I just swirl the brush on a tissue with some rubbing alcohol to remove the surface foundation, which allows it to dry quickly for your powder products.

For eyes, my top two can do it all. I fell in love with the MAC 217 Blending Brush and have had a constant love affair since. It blends so seamlessly due to the ideal length and density of the bristles. In my last blog about “The Softer Side of Smokey”, I mentioned how brushes are key to blend, blend, blend! I swear by my MAC 217, it does most of the work. If you are having a difficult time with your smokey eye, this is the brush for you. I prefer the MAC 217 above others because of the natural fibers that are carefully hand-crafted and guaranteed to last for years. There are more pocket book friendly options like the Sephora Brand Professional Blending Eye Brush #29. My other fave eye brush is double the fun. =) The Sephora Brand Double-Ended Smokey Eye Brush has an awesome smudger on one end and an angled liner brush on the other. The smudger is perfect for softening eyeliner or creating a smokey texture. The angled end has so many uses: brow shaping, eyeliner (gel, powder, cream) and lip blending are a few.

If you’re looking to build a brush collection, these are the perfect staples for you. Just remember that they are an investment that will last 6-10 years. Take care of your brushes by keeping them out of your makeup bag and in a case of their own. Another key is to wash them at least once a week. I use a gentle shampoo and luke-warm water. Just get a good lather going and rinse gently until you see the water running clear. Try to keep the water from getting above the metal ferrule (the thing that holds the bristles on) because it could loosen the glue. Reshape the bristles and lay flat to dry (takes about 6 hours). Love your brushes and they will love you back for years to come. You’ll love how fun and easy it is to try new looks when you have the right tools. Accessorize your makeup collection and let the fun begin.

What are your desert island brushes?

~Hair Perfect~

When should you schedule your trial

• A month before the event would be perfect (but always confirm with your stylist).

• A stylist will be more likely to remember and replicate more easily with such little time between your trial and your wedding day. There also will be more time to make changes, if necessary.

• Always take a camera to your trial appointment so you have pictures to remind your stylist.

• Don’t forget your veil, flower, or anything you might be wearing in your hair the day of your trial so that you and your stylist can practice placement.

• If you can, try your dress on to see if your look is complete.

Soft and elegant are the words I find when I look at Florica’s creation.  It’s so perfectly tailored to fit your beautiful face.  I can think of so many styles this accessory could go with.   But,  it would defiantly be the highlight for your occasion style.

Check out Florica on Etsy she is a master at work.
