~Hair Wonderland~

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Hair Bows Wonderworld on Etsy is a world full of fantasy, from the not so everyday bouquets to her trendy boutonnieres. Not to forget her unforgettable hair accessories, that’s why we are here.

Check out the boutonnieres I posted below. I think they would substitute as hair accessories perfectly.  Don’t ever be afraid to take something, use it differently than its purpose and make it new.  Many times we have made broaches into hairpins and bouquet fillers in to hair accessories.  Use your imagination and make it happen, that is where your individuality will take place.

The boutonnieres could be used for a smaller scaled bride and less is more.  Simple and just a little pop.

Don’t forget to check out the Bliss styles suggested for the accessories.  Happy inspiration!

Love ban.do!  This is so fabulous…I love the color and the size.  Haute Couture~ refers to the creation of exclusive custom-fitted clothing.  Which means ban.do will make one just for you.  Click the picture to place your custom designed order.

So be inspired by the beauty of this great adornment and the picture I found below, defining Haute Couture.

~Statuesque & Elegant~

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

I received a phone call today from a friend who has decided to push her wedding date up to this weekend. Her and I have worked together for a long time. We have talked about how I would do her hair, about her wedding and so on. Until recently she would marry out of town and I was not going to assist in her beauty regimen. But here we are, plans in full swing. Only days to prepare and my brain is swirling. No trial here, we just shoot for it and go. So this is my way of digging for inspiration.

She sent me to the website where I could find her dress. I often have brides send me pictures of their dress to get an idea of what will work and look best. I decided to blog about a dress and what choice of hairstyle might fit. I chose not to post the Brides dress but a different one.

BCBG Maxazria~TIERED LACE GOWN

BCBG Maxazria~TIERED LACE GOWN

The BCBG Tiered Lace Gown has a vintage lace feel but a modern twist with the strong black sash, low back and high collar.  Often I feel with the halter, high collard dress it looks best to wear the hair up.  This dress opens your shoulders creating an elongated appearance.  By adding an up do you would appear taller, statuesque and elegant.  Leaving the hair down would take away from the gown and cover the open shoulder and pretty collar.

~Hair Adornment of the Week~

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Its like no other birdcage. Its special, polka dot, 1950s flair brings me running with excitement. Whether you are planning a vintage wedding or not,  you can bring a little throw back old school into your event. It would work fabulously in a boudoir photo shoot.  How about, wearing a birdcage just because.  There should be a special day for that…Friday are girls want to look pretty and wear their birdcage to work day :-) .

Finding Your Perfect Stylist:

Searching for your perfect stylist can be disastrous and nerve wrecking. Trusting someone who is going to change your look, make you look perfect for your event, or read your mind to help you find what you truly want can be difficult. The search begins often with moving from stylist to stylist without reason. An unhappy client with unhappy hair evolves and the search continues…

Many times, there may be a lack of trust in a stylist, which comes with the pattern of changing stylists each time you get your hair done. Then, you repeatedly discover the unfortunate experiences of bad hair. So how do you trust? Trust is often earned but in the same sense you need to trust enough to place your hair in a stylist’s hands. Here are some suggestions to get you started:

*Find a credible stylist that has the knowledge you feel comfortable with.
*Your stylist should match you as a person and mesh well with your personality.
*You should be able to easily communicate to the stylist what it is you want and get
the results with ease.

To find the perfect stylist for you can be easy or can take a little bit of a search. You can find them through their work and word of mouth. Take a look around if you see someone who has similar hair as you, and if you love their style, don’t be afraid to ask who does their hair. If you already visit a salon for other services, ask your esthetician, masseuse, or nail technician for recommendations. It is very likely they have a favored stylist in mind that they will recommend to you.

If you are still fearful of jumping into the chair of your new stylist, take a visit for a blow dry or style. See how you two relate and see how the stylist showcases their skills. Another good idea would be to take a picture in with you of a hairstyle you would like to achieve in the future and see what the stylist communicates about the style for you. See if you like what you hear and if you feel at ease, if not move on. You will find your stylist in time and then learn to trust them when you two learn the dance of communication. Good luck and happy hairs!

Topsy Turvy Design’s costume accessories for stage, film & play.  I’m not going to lie I want to wear these hat’s everyday!  You have to visit Topsy Turvy’s Etsy and look at the rest of her designs to appreciate her creativeness.  Kim Brown-Dye passion for creativeness and where she finds it inflames my own passion.  She looks to the tops of the buildings for details and in paper lanterns in china town to give her inspiration. These details and such creativeness allows her hats to pop with fun and her hair accessories to be detailed like no other.  Just because these are for play and film doesn’t mean you can’t incorporate them into everyday or your special day.  I have picked several to match with some Bliss looks.
