1950s hair & makeup InsPired

While planning for a 1950s themed wedding we came up with some inspiration to fuel the brain fire and to give vision to our bride.  My sister and I came up with our suggestions separately and we have a beautiful palate of choices.  There are many staple looks in the 1950s but there are still many choices to be incorporated into one look.

Hair Inspiration:

The look was soft loose waves, with a swoops & sometimes a victory roll.  There were so many versions and a lot is deciphered by the texture of the hair.  If it was up it was defiantly elegant as Audrey Hepburn wore it in her classic french twist.

Make-up Inspiration:

Women could get away with a more dramatic look, particularly for evening.

Eyeliner was liquid, making a sharp, highly defined contour. It was used primarily on the upper lid.

Pastels were the favored colors for day, especially for a younger woman.

Women could wear red by day and it was the most popular choice for evening.

Lips were colored lush and full.
