There are many stories of the origin of a bride’s veil. Some say that the veil was introduced in ancient Rome. People of that era believed that evil spirits would be attracted to the bride, so they covered her face with a veil in order to conceal her features and confuse them. The definition of veil is to “obscure, shroud, mask or cover, so perhaps that is how the bridal “veil” got its name.
But wherever the bridal veil received its name it’s become beautiful in it’s ability to conceal or adorn a bride. Introducing I Do Wedding Veils on Etsy, exquisite ready to wear and couture wedding veils. Just for you straight from Sydney, Australia creating heirlooms for your family.
Made from the most luxurious soft French silk tulle, this couture chapel length veil features faintly scattered Swarovski crystals, which gently catch the light as you walk down the aisles.

Had to blog it, because it’s Big Bun LOVE! Hilary Duff’s bun is a little out of the norm and protruding but why not. Dare to be different.
This year for 2010 I have already swung in the direction for big buns (see below) and they come in all shapes and sizes. Different locations on your head and can be adorned in many ways or simply left alone. They change shape and form to fit whatever it is you like. So much fun! Enjoy the bun bonanza and be inspired.

I have started this story in a previous post about my choices as a matron of honor this coming March. When I first blogged I had not chosen my dress yet, but I have found one and my shoes. Now its time to accessories, choose make-up and hair. The location my friend has chosen is viva Las Vegas! So to me traditional can be taken a little more to the edge but being respectful of the brides wishes.
I have approval of the dress and shoes so now my mission as my own hairstylist will be to perfect my do. As any normal girl, I think I might have an idea. But when it comes down to it who really knows what might look good on paper may not look good on me. So I will be consulting my sister, Hannah Butler Make-up artist, for the make-up and trial it out. I will probably do a couple of practices with my hair just to get it down and it may all change on the day of but I need to have a base plan.
So here are my thought…I want the smokey sultry look of Angelina, she is to die for…I think my hair should be up and high, it’s Vegas! The collar on the dress is a little high so hair down is a no. I am thinking if I have this strong of an eye look my hair should be pulled back to let it shine.

When scrolling through images a couple of weeks ago I came across the first image of Audrey Hepburn & Grace Kelly at the Academy Awards. I saved it because I loved their classic swept back hair in “french twist” like styles. Showcasing their beautiful faces and the dresses…to die for.
I was then so excited to see the images of Chelsea Clinton in her wedding gown. Stunning! Her hair is beautiful and twisted with perfect height.
Its time we bring back the classic and the up do’s!! Be your own classic beauty.
The accessory caught my eye because of the great golden color and with fall approaching this would be perfect color to adorn with. Wear this as a brooch, a sash, a hair clip or a headband however you want it. Visit Hair Bows Wonderworld on Etsy.

You should all know by now that I am a huge ban.do fan. This hair adornment comes from ban.do’s Black Label the couture collection, made especially for you. I’m loving the look of the models hair off to one side giving an asymmetrical look paired with the accessory. Look how statuesque she looks with the height and her open shoulders free from hair. Simply Beautiful!

I was at the Maker Faire Detroit this weekend and I saw these two girls with belts in their hair. I had to kinda stalk & take pictures then I just finally asked for one and of course my finger was in the way. So please excuse the fact that I am not the photographer of the group but the hairstylist and that they are taken with my phone.
If you are a owner of The Bliss Book you will read in the introduction: Inspiration is everywhere; it’s the curve of a face, a fold of a fabric, the flush of a cheekbone, a color.
The reason I stalked these girls and the belts in their hair is because they inspired me. The texture and the height of their ponies and the fact that it had a multitude of colors. Now I’m not saying I want a belt and rope pony but yes I do want a big giant full pony.
Use your imagination and envision. Are you drawn to the belts and can you see your inspirational style?
Maker Faire was so much fun and I believe it was the first time in Detroit. Check out below for the location and dates you can still get to Maker Faire this year.
PS. I visited lots of handmade vendors in one portion of the faire
Match that dress. I was scanning through the J.CREW catalog and found this fun whimsical dress and immediately a hairstyle came to mind. Then the hunt for fun hair adornments to match. Click on each picture to visit the individual artist.
Remember, never leave the house without being adorned.
