The runway fairy

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

While preparing for a photo shoot filled with dreams of fairy dust, fairy wings & deep in a wooded forest,  I find myself looking for inspiration on the runways.  It’s so much fun to often take runway looks and turn them into everyday.

Can you picture your bridal day as a fairy goddess with long flowing waves slightly undone.

Stay tuned for our super fun inspirational shoot!

Hair adornment of the week

Sunday, August 14th, 2011

Sash headbands are breathtaking and can be used with so many hairstyle options.  Recently I used on in a down style that could have been easily swept to the side in low pony for a second look.  Nyjole Jewellery on Etsy has created a perfect mix between a satin sash and crystal headband.

Red carpet look

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

This year has been the year of Big Bun Love.  But this big bun has transformed to fit my lovely, statuesque & beautiful friend.  It’s soft allowing the bun to blend with her full bang marrying the two perfectly.  I love giving my friend big hair to match her own fabulous style.  The wedding was a grand & elegant affair so her stunning hair was a match.

Don’t be fooled this style can be worn for a red carpet event, black tie event or even for a bride.

Thank you Imagine Three Photography for the photos & to see more photos from this event click here http://imaginethree.wordpress.com/2010/10/19/the-wedding-of-jessica-brian/

Hair Adornment of the Week

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

Romantic Satin Pink Turban Headband with Crystal Flower by bethany lorelle on Etsy.  This caught my eye immediately, I have a love for sparkly broaches so naturally on a headband, why not.

The soft, satin pink works perfectly with almost any color scheme.  Perfect for a wedding day look, also used as a second look after removing your veil.  Or just any day with a simple dress & curly pig tails as shown in the picture.

Check out some Bliss inspired looks below that will flow with the turban style headband.  Happy Inspiration!

Hair adornment of the week

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Put a pretty bow on it!  This piece is special and one of a kind, with a little vintage flair.  I love how it’s simply placed in her loose waves.  Another suggested loose wave option from The Bliss Book, shown below, would go perfectly with the ”Celeste” Hair Clip.

1950s hair & makeup InsPired

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

While planning for a 1950s themed wedding we came up with some inspiration to fuel the brain fire and to give vision to our bride.  My sister and I came up with our suggestions separately and we have a beautiful palate of choices.  There are many staple looks in the 1950s but there are still many choices to be incorporated into one look.

Hair Inspiration:

The look was soft loose waves, with a swoops & sometimes a victory roll.  There were so many versions and a lot is deciphered by the texture of the hair.  If it was up it was defiantly elegant as Audrey Hepburn wore it in her classic french twist.

Make-up Inspiration:

Women could get away with a more dramatic look, particularly for evening.

Eyeliner was liquid, making a sharp, highly defined contour. It was used primarily on the upper lid.

Pastels were the favored colors for day, especially for a younger woman.

Women could wear red by day and it was the most popular choice for evening.

Lips were colored lush and full.

Accessorize that dress!

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

I just wanted to stay on Peppermint Pretty’s site to listen to the great music while I drooled over dresses.  I love playing the game of matching hairstyles, dress & accessory.  The center of inspiration for this post, is the dress.  You usually always begin first with your dress then the accessory & your hair most of the time will follow.  You can go full fledge vintage with this dress choice or throw in a bit of modern.

The hairstyles of choice range from swept back with softness, classic french with a twist, straight up victory roll with pin curls & down with an edge of vintage.  Adorn any one of these hairstyles with fun choice pics below of some of my favorite artist.   Click on the pic to visit their sweet adornments and Peppermint Pretty to find your dress!
