Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

When I am looking for the best of the best hair adornments I often find myself thinking how I can wear this, where were these hair bobbles when I needed them and can I get married again. No not really again,  but can I stick a pretty something extra in my hair.

Lottie-Da Designs has become one of my favorites on Etsy. When I came across her page of it so clean and pretty full designs made for a princess.  These are some of my featured favorites, click on the pictures to go directly to her designs.

I have featured some Bliss looks that would look fabulous with Lootie-Da’s featured adornments.

Fit For Her

Monday, May 31st, 2010

When it comes to being inspired for your wedding day look,  you can find it anywhere.  When I have brides that choose directly from The Bliss Book I am always excited.

in·spi·ra·tion: the act of influencing or suggesting opinions.

Like I always say inspiration can be your beginning point of communication, a stepping stone to your ultimate goal.  You may come to your stylist with three inspirational looks that you will want to turn into one.  My most recent bride wanted a look from Bliss,  but altered to suit her as a person.  We changed it to fit her dress, personality and hair type.  Lowering the height, leaving some down on the side and no bang.

Use your inspirational photos as references they will be your perfect communication tool for you and your stylist.

Picture PerFect Prom

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Transformed into a picture perfect prom,  Nia is a classic beauty.  She had consulted and deliberated on her perfect up style to match her vintage dress.  I am proud to say she had chosen her style from the pages of The Bliss Book.  She has also adorned our pages as one of our models.  I am glad to see her day of prom approach and be able to give her inspiration from the pages she helped fill.

The style that was chosen is a more retro vintage style with a modern twist.  The Bliss Book is meant to be a guide to help you reach your ultimate style.  Some alterations were made to fit Nia, her hair and what she preferred.  So in the end we have a beautiful girl ready for her prom.

Thank you Nia for sharing your pictures and choosing Bliss for your inspiration. I hope your look inspires others!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

Calling all MOB’s and MOG’s this post is dedicated to you in honor of Mother’s Day and your up coming event.  We celebrate you with some inspirational styles that may help you in your decision making.  Often I hear from mother’s they do not have choices and they do not know what to do with their hair for the event.  You are often the person running around tying up loose ends.  As the mother you are one of the most important people at the event so sit down, relax and beautify yourself for this grand moment.

The chignon is perfect a soft loose bun at the nape of you neck sometimes leaving things out around your face.  The chignon can be deciphered in many ways but is always elegant and age appropriate. The french twist is perfect for putting your hair up and looking elegant.  Again you can have multiple interpretations of the twist.  Down can be loosely pulled back from the face with loose wave so that it will not look like a prom do but more of an elegant red carpet style.

If you would like to be more you on that day and not do an up style or a formal style,  my suggestion is to see your normal stylist or a stylist that will do a trial.  Have your normal every day style but pumped up.  Get a blow dry that is full of life add a few loose waves.  Short hair add a little bended curl to your everyday style.  Whatever you do represent yourself and be proud.

Choosing With Honor

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

I have the great privilege of being the matron of honor in my friends wedding this coming year.  I have already started in my head preparing the beauty regimen for my bride and I cannot wait.  But as the matron of honor and her stylist I have to set my plan well ahead because the duties are high and the job will be busy.

I have been given the opportunity to choose a black dress of my liking.  The venue will be Las Vegas.  Elegant, party and fun should all be wrapped up in the look.  So today I decided to blog for myself as a matron of honor and for bridesmaids who have choices and looks to achieve.

I found this great dress on Etsy from Isadora Clothing.  It has a multitude of options for style and color.  I love the feel of the shoulders, the softness and cut.  For myself my hair is always a deli-ma.  I feel you either know your dress style then your hair follows or your have a visual of your hair and you need to find a dress to match.

My brides hair will be down,  so it’s my rule to not match brides with her party.  She should stand out and be the focus.  So my hair shall be up and I am feeling a larger french twist for some reason.  I found a picture of inspiration for starters.  This may change with time, but for today we are going to play match the dress with style and accessories.

Hair Adornment of the Week

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

oooohhhh la la Velvet Owl!  What a magnificent creation and such a modern twist on the bubble veil. I love it, especially with the flower comb that creates such a beautiful contrast and a secondary option for later when the veil may come off.  The Bubble veil is a favorite because to me is feels like and extension to your hair and adds such beautiful height.   Be interchangeable and have two different looks for your ceremony to reception, this will give you the option.

It’s time to freshen ourselves up as we jump into spring!  The flowers are blooming, the sun is attempting to make an appearance, and we are coming out of our hibernation.  Nothing makes you feel better about yourself than a fresh color,  covering up the old or brightening the drab.  So you ask,  What’s hot?  How do I choose?  What do I do with my existing color?

Always do your research by scanning this seasons hottest magazines for some color ideas.  You always have to remember that a lot of editorial pictures can include extensions which allow the color to pop more which is unrealistic in natural hair.  Bring several options with you to show to your stylist because all may not be suitable for your skin tone.  Your stylist may have some great ideas for you with new techniques or color palette choices from a recent color class or hair show.  Always trust your colorist in choosing the correct tones that will be perfectly matched with you.

Big changes can be made in steps, making it a great transformation over a span of several seasons.  So get to the blonde, blonde, blonde at the end of summer.  Be the ever changing blonde combining tones to include different dimensions, reaching it’s full potential by the end of the season.  The same can go for any color.   Red heads can change all hues from honey tones to copper tones and plan your deep winter red, red tones.  By working towards a goal you can have so much fun in the process, be ever changing and treat your hair in a gentle manner.

What’s hot? Brightening your browns with warm hues of honey to create an all over lighter golden hued brown. Take your left over winter blonde to a warm vanilla blonde to soften and tone your look for spring. Banding- brighten the front section around your face with a lighter shade of color blending it with highlights to the back or using a complimentary color.  Whatever you do, freshen yourself with a new pop of spring color and you will feel renewed!

What is your spring hair fling?
