~Look of Inspiration~

wedding-guide-cover-31

This week I did a post about our cover photo shoot for Travelhost wedding guide.  I said I would revisit this and talk about what inspired the look for her hair.  Oh wait,  you still have to stay tuned…we have saved the best make-up shot for later when the make-up artist explains her inspirational look.  Coming soon…

I wanted to embellish the hair with large flowers and honestly it’s really hard to find fresh that I felt were perfect and would fit the look. There were several other options but this was I felt stunning and clean. Her look was ivory and white.

This look was inspired from an up-do that Katie Perry (Below) had worn with very strong bangs.  I wanted to originally have a full strong bang but I wasn’t going to cut hers. So we compromised and did somewhat of a fake bang.  How could this look not inspire you. Can you visually see it, how the bang can work with the new look created.  I wanted her “bun” to be not so perfect but swept, large and dramatic. I guess strong would be the word, like her flowers.

When I am working on finding a look I always look for inspiration, this time I found it in Katy Perry. I didn’t copy it for the exact look, just inspiration. My model then turned from rocker Katy Perry to icon beauty Audrey Hepburn.
*Note on bangs right now: These strong,  large sections are big and hot…be brave, do it!

~ban.do love~

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

It’s time again for ban.do love!  The fav of the month is no.92 crystal encrusted scalloped trim with ribbon ties.  I love ribbon ties they are so romatic, especially attached to crystals.  This is a perect addition to a down style and an up style,  so the ribbon can show.

Feel the ban.do love and check out the Bliss do we have paired with the accesory.

It’s Etsy time again and the newest favorite finds.  The stage is set and the spotlight is on The Redheaded Actress. I spotted her sweet adornments, especially her headbands, and had to share the love.

The Redheaded Actress:

My love of crafting began at the ripe old age of three, when my Godmother started teaching me how to use a glue gun. Ever since then, I’ve been crafting up a storm and loving every second of it. When I got engaged, I put my crafting savvy to use to save us money and make our wedding as unique as we are, which kicked my crafting love into overdrive!

Check out her headbands for the everyday girl or for bridesmaids.  We have also paired her accessories with some suggested looks from Bliss.  Don’t forget to comment.  xoxo

~Adorned with original creations~

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

I didn’t know the greatness of what I found until I read more.  True Blind Faith: their inspiration pieces are previously loved vintage jewels and findings that originally began life as brooches, bracelets, earrings or other adornments.  I have to tell you my love for this because I have adorned so much with vintage brooches and earrings.   But to see the artistry that True Blind Faith has combined with vintage makes me happy inside.  I don’t even try to pretend to create mine,  I just attach them to the head so I am in awe of the creativeness.

Vision Statement

True Blind Faith was created to help brides define their personal style on their wedding day.  We believe that every bride should be adorned with original creations to allow her own unique style and personality shine through.  New designs are consistently born into our collections which include various styles of tiaras, vines, combs and headbands.

I wanted to share with you one of my brides who found inspiration with Bliss.  I met Lauren when I did her best friends wedding this past summer in Key West, she swore up and down that her hair would not stay.  But even in the Key West humidity we got it to stay and our beautiful relationship began.

A lot goes in to preparing yourself for your event and it all begins with the right stylist.  Communication about what you want and don’t want.   Finding the right communication tools to be able to visualize these looks.  The job as a stylist starts by digging deep and knowing who that person is on a daily basis, the look of their dress, what their hair is like and what the bride is visualizing in her mind.

Lauren had given me pictures of her dress and she had gone through The Bliss Book and had chosen several looks.  She liked the idea of all of them.  We needed to pick what would look the best on her, what would allow a veil and look the best with her dress.  By using these examples and why she liked them, because they were up controlled and they still had texture, we could together reach her look with ease.  You can see her choices below.

The ending was perfect…She was an elegant beautiful bride.  Her hair complimented her, who she is, her dress and completed her look.  Congratulations Lauren & Dave!

Where do you find your inspired beauty?

Finding inspiration~On the pages we go

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Imagine Three, creators of The Bliss Book had a great opportunity to do a photo shoot for Travelhost of Flint and the Thumb Magazine.  The shoot is supporting a bridal issue,  so we did what we do best.

I have a sneak peek, of the non-professional shots, and where I found my inspiration for her hair.

When I am working on finding a look I always try to find something or someone that might inspire me.  This time I found it in Katy Perry.  I never copy the exact look, I use it as base starter or boiling thought to a great finish.  With this look I wanted to originally have a full strong bang, but my model did not have bangs and I was not going to cut her hair. So we compromised and did somewhat of a fake bang.

Note on bangs right now: These strong large sections are big and hot…be brave, do it!

Erica Gregory owner of E-vents: a wedding and event planning company.

I was given the opportunity to speak at the wedding workshop by Erica Gregory owner of E-vents.  What a privilege and great idea to give local brides the opportunity to hear directly from the experts.  If you are ever given the chance to attend a Bridal Luncheon,  do so.  You will find yourself hearing directly from Vendors you may want to hire or just hear their expert advice.

For my talk I covered how to prepare the hair prior to your wedding day.  This plays a major role in your hair holding, the control of fuzziness & it will be the canvas on which your stylist will perform their work.

I prepared three models with separate looks and gave choices of veil placement, flower choice and pins.  I am a firm believer that we all need visual aids & ideas,  to help in leading us to the final look.

A local photographer in Indianapolis was on hand,  Sarah E. Carter you can also see more about the event at her blog post:
If you will notice Bea's hairstyle if very similar to The Bliss Book cover, it's just modified to fit her.

If you will notice Bea's hairstyle if very similar to The Bliss Book cover, it's just modified to fit her. The large flower is perfect for her daintiness.

Because Bea's features are so small I wanted to give her heights and bring it away from her her beautiful face slightly.

This is one of my favorite choices. A bride at one time had me place at least ten Stephanotis flowers in her soft, loose up do. It was a perfect option to not wearing a veil.
